Buckinghamshire
is located in southeast England. It is divided into four different districts:
Aylesbury vale, Chiltem, Southbucks and Milton Keynes. The county town is Aylesbury, which has a
population of over 70,000 people.
Buckingham
has more National Trust properties than any of England’s other counties. One
example is Hughenden in High Wycombe.
Visiting these historical sites is always a favourite for a family day
out.
The Grand
Union Canal attracts many visitors to the country and boat cruises along the
canal are a popular pass-time.
Buckinghamshire
is home to Pinewood Studios and Dorney Lake. The rowing events at the 2012
Summer Olympics were held at Dorney Lake.
In 1536 much
of the county became the property of King Henry VIII. Henry VIII was also
responsible for making Aylesbury the official county town, taking over from
Buckingham. This may have been to curry favour with Thomas Boleyn, father of
his future bride Anne Boleyn.
