Hertfordshire
is one of the Home Counties of England. The county is bordered by Bedfordshire
to the north, Cambridgeshire to the north east and Essex to the east. The
county town of Hertfordshire is Hertford. Hertfordshire is spread across 634
square miles and has a population of over a million people. Hertfordshire is
commonly known as ‘Herts’.
Hertfordshireis home to many historical attractions including Hatfield house which was built
in 1611. Hatfield House was built by Robert Cecil, the first Earl of Salisbury.
Hertfordshire
is also home to part of the Lee Valley Regional Park, at 26 miles long, it is
London’s largest park, spanning into Greater London and Essex. The park
features a range of award winning sport facilities, nature reserves and
riverside trails.

has been home to a range of famous people including Lewis Hamilton, who was
born in Stevenage and spent his school years in Hertfordshire. Others include
Reg Butler (sculptor), Victoria Beckham (singer) and Michael Morpurgo (author).
