Bletchley
is a constituent town of Milton Keynes,
with a population of over 30,000 people. The town is just over 50 miles from London.
Bletchley
is most famous for Bletchley Park, the headquarters of Britain’s World War II code
breaking organisation. Bletchley Park was established in 1938 and run by the
Bletchley Park trust, it has now been turned into a museum, with new
attractions being constructed regularly such as the War Time hut which was new
for 2013. Popular ITV drama ‘The Bletchley Cirlce’ starring in Rachael Stirling
is set in Bletchy
Park during the Second
World War.
One
of the most famous names associated with Bletchley is Alan Turing, a brilliant
mathematician, wartime code-breaker and pioneer of computer science. He was
granted a posthumous royal pardon in 2013 in relation to his 1952 conviction
for homosexuality.
Bletchley
is popular for its shopping, the Brunel shopping centre, built in 1970 is home
to many popular retail stores.
Bletchley
is home to Bletchley Town FC and Bletchley RUFC.
